The stars hit the dance floor to support Women in Film at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood on Saturday (23AUG2014).
Among those encouraging awareness about gender equality in the film industry were Selena Gomez and Taylor Schilling.
"I think it's incredible, I think it's very relevant. I think it's an important time for a lot of these women's stories who have previously gone unheard and unseen to be made visible." said Schilling.
Whilst Gomez wanted to draw attention to the struggle that women still face in this line of work.
She said "To celebrate women in film is so important and being someone who's auditioning and constantly wanting to do great things. It's hard for women. I'm convinced it's definitely harder for women than it is for men. You know it's great though we have strong women here representing what it means to be in film and I'm happy to be a part of it."
Kerry Washington voiced her message of improving the image of women in media by stating:
"The images of women in media are so important and having women's voices be part of media is so important. So, to be here tonight to stand behind that and have a good time is a good thing."
Others attending the event included Lena Dunham, William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman. The party was thrown by Variety and WiF as part of the build up to the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony in two days time.
