South Korean boyband JYJ on their chemistry, touring Asia and solo careers

South Korean pop group JYJ attended a press conference ahead of their tour, "The Return of The King," in Hong Kong on Friday (15 August).

The tour marks their comeback, an end to a three-year hiatus in which individual members pursued their own projects, such as solo albums and acting.

The members were excited to be in Hong Kong again, as they have a strong following there.

Kim Junsu hoped that this energy from fans would carry them to further success in other cities.

"The first concert was in Seoul, and now we are in Hong Kong. After that there will be more concerts in Asia. Why did we pick Hong Kong as the first stop? Because I know that the fans in Hong Kong are very passionate and Hong Kong people love Korean songs. So we want to absorb this energy from the fans and bring it to other cities in our tour. So that's why we picked Hong Kong," said Kim.

Park Yoo Jun added that he was excited to bring their new album "Just Us" to fans worldwide.

"After the Hong Kong concert ends, we will have more concerts in Asia, until September. We have been preparing the album for a long time, so we hope that we can sing and perform it for our fans all over the world," said Park.

JYJ was formed by Kim Jae Joong, Park Yoo Chun and Kim Junsu in 2010 after splitting from South Korean pop group TVXQ.

The group released their first album "The Beginning" in 2010 and launched a worldwide tour in the same year.

The three have been working together for over 10 years. Kim Jae Joong said the bond is so strong between them that they can tell what the other is thinking with just a look.

"We have been working together for ten years and we don't even need words to communicate anymore. We can tell what the other is thinking or what they want from their expression and actions. We don't have to talk things out anymore," Kim said.

As one of the most sought after actors in South Korea after starring in dramas "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and "Rooftop Prince," Park recently ventured onto the silver screen with "Haemoo." Park talked about the difference between starring in dramas and films, saying that films allowed more time to prepare.

"Shooting a film is more systemized so there is more time for me to familiarize myself with the script and think about how I want to portray the character. When shooting dramas, many episodes are shot in a short time. So there is definitely more time to prepare when shooting a film. The difference between shooting a film and a drama is indescribable. With more time, I can give more to my fans," Park said.

JYJ burst back onto the scene with their third album "Just Us," released on 29 July this year. They topped the South Korean charts and reached No. 2 in the Oricon chart in Japan.

JYJ will perform in various Asian cities, including Beijing, Ho Chi Minh and Taiwan.
